Warren Avenue's Going to Miss Betty Carpenter
The late Frank Kedrick gave birth to it, nourished it for many years, and when he left the Warren Avenue Pee Wees were sustained by a slew of good people, not the least of which were the Carpenters — Murrel and wife Betty.
Murrel died of a heart attack 14 years ago, but Betty, sorrowful as she was, kept on giving to the organization. Sometimes she was a lonely figure at the clubhouse at the corner of 11th and Warren Avenue in Bremerton, doing what she always did, gluing the pieces together so kids could have a place to play.

'C String' Freight Trains
Collide at Chico

Two of the leagues powerhouse teams, the North Perry Gators and Chico, met in a undefeated head-to-head match-up on the dirt of Chico Field late Saturday evening.
From the opening kickoff, the tension in the air was thick, as the mid-season match-up had the intensity of a championship showdown. When the final whistle sounded, one team still have their perfect record (5 – 0), and the other team went home with a blemish to contemplate. (

Gators Earn Decisive Hat Trick at Home Opener
Saturday morning may have started off cool and clear but things quickly heated up, especially on the Ostrander Field, home of the North Perry Gators. All three Gator teams bit down on their opponents and did everything but drag them under water and perform a death roll. Every Silver Lining Has a Few Clouds
For the first time in 10 games, the North Perry “D” String left the field without a victory under their belt. The 21-to-20 squeaker, won by South Kitsap (W), had parents and coaches from both teams on the edge of their seats the entire time. It was a nail biter from the opening kickoff, all the way to the last tick on the clock, and the longest “D” string game this writer has ever seen, coming in at just minutes shy of 2 hours. More penalty flags were thrown than the United Nations, divided nearly equally between the opponents.

South Kitsap (W) Too Strong
for Warren Ave 'B'
Warren Ave 'B' came out strong on both sides of the ball. Giving up a big play for a touch down in the first half and shut down South Kitsap (W) team for the remainer of the period. . . Big plays were to tell the story for the Knights, as the defense would give up a couple touchdowns on long 3rd downs situations. (
